The story behind "Taiwan Online Library"
Taiwanese Assocation received the donated books from Taiwanese goverment. These books were carefully selected to intend to cover the topics that most Taiwanese are interested in. The categories range from history, travel, literature, politics, to cooking, picture books and comics, etc.
These books not only provide a remedy for our homesickness, but also enlarge our view of Taiwanese culture. Therefore, it's important that we share these books with as many people as possible. So far, we don't have a physical library for Taiwanese in Minnesota (we hope we may build one in the future when financial support comes in.) Therefore, we set up the online library system to allow all members in Taiwanese Association to review and request books for free. Our volunteers will manage the website and keep the books.
Our goal is to bring more people to know about Taiwan through these books. Consequently, we hope to bind Taiwanese people in Minnesota together.Rules of the Online Library:
1.How it works:
Please reserve online : http://tolib.org/book.2.Who is qualified to check out the books? Anyone who is interested in Taiwanese culture and has an email account. Go to this website (http://tolib.org) to sign up as a member.
3.How long can the book be loaned? The maximum hold time is 180 days. If the book has not been reserved by someone else, you can keep it another 180 days.
4.The maximum number of checked out books: The maximum number of reserved books is 20 items. The maximum of checked out books is 50.
5.Where can I find the books? Please visit http://tolib.org/book, you will see all the items in the library.
6.Make reservation: Make your reservation in the website (http://tolib.org/book). Once done, you will receive the successful reservation notification email from the system. Once the book is ready for pick up, another pick up notification email will be sent to you.
7.Where can I return books? If you are unable to attend the event, please return your checked out books to one of the spots according to your convenience in the following map.
8.Renew: Reserve those items you have now, and you are the first in line in the reservation queue, then the reservation will be treated as RENEW.
