Te-Chiang Liu

Violinist
Te-Chiang (Bacco) Liu is a native of Taiwan. Liu started playing the violin when he was four and was awarded the top prize at the Taiwan National Violin Competition in the Youth Division in 1996. Liu received a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance with Honors from Shih-Chien University. He was offered full scholarships to attend the Boston Conservatory, where he studied with Professor Lynn Chang and received a Master’s Degree in Violin Performance in 2009.

Liu came to the University of Minnesota with full scholarships to study with Professor Young-Nam Kim and to attain his D.M.A. Liu is currently the Concertmaster of the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra and also a substitute musician for both the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra. He is the founder and the Artistic Director of the Southwest Minnesota String Festival as well as the first violinist of the Meadowlarks String Quartet—the resident string quartet of Southwest Minnesota State University. In addition, Liu teaches privately as well as in the violin/viola faculty at Southwest Minnesota State University
Hsin-Yin Min

Violinist
Hsin-Yin Min is a native of Taipei, Taiwan. Min started to play the violin at age seven and was awarded first place in the Taipei City Violin Competition in the Youth Division 1993.

Min received her BM in Violin Performance from the Taipei Municipal University of Education and was a regular performing violinist for several television broadcast shows. In 2007, Min was awarded scholarships to attend the Boston Conservatory, where she received her Master's in Violin Performance after studying with Professor Lynn Chang. Min was offered fellowships to study with Professor Young-Nam Kim at the University of Minnesota in order to attain her D.M.A. in Violin Performance in 2011.

Min has performed as a substitute musician with the Boston Civic Symphony, the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, and the Minnesota Orchestra. Min is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Minnesota and a violin instructor at the YingHua Conservatory. Min also holds the principal second violin position of the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra and is a member of the Meadowlark quartet, the resident string quartet of the Southwest Minnesota State University, as well.
Hsuan-Tzu (Amy) Wei

Violinist
Amy Wei was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan. She began playing violin when she was five years old and has studied ah colleges of music since the age of ten. In 2005, Wei was awarded first place (violin) in the Taipei City Music Competition in the College Division. She received her B.M. degree and her certificate of Educational Program for Elementary School Teachers from the University of Taipei, Taiwan, in 2009.

Wei obtained her M,M, degree in Violin Performance at Florida State University in 2011. After that, she received a fellowship to study with Professor Young-Nam Kim at the University of Minnesota in order to attain a D.M.A. in Violin Performance, also in 2011. She has been a regular substitute musician for the Quad Cities Symphony and the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra. She is currently a doctoral candidate and the first violin section player of the Mankato Symphony Orchestra.

Yi-Hsuan Lin

Violinist
Yi-Hsuan was born in Taiwan. His parents believed that music could cultivate a great disposition; therefore, he attended music classes from elementary school through university.

Now, Lin is studying to attain his D.M.A degree with professor Young-Nam Kim at the University of Minnesota as part of his next musical dream.

Honors & Awards:
2011 Personal Violin Recital: Lin performed at the Bach room, YinQi Culture & Music Foundation.
2009 Music Competition, Vienna Music Education Organization: 2nd place awarded in the finals. 2nd place awarded in the National Violin Competition.
2008 SHOBI College of Music: Lin was selected as an exchange student and performed in Tokyo.
2007 Movie: Secrete (Directed by Jay Chou). He served as a concertmaster and performed, Swan Lake.
Kent Cheng

Violist , violinist
A native of Taiwan, Kent Cheng started playing the violin at age of 6. He has been studied at Nanmen Junior High School,Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University,and National Taiwan University of Arts with professors ShuDe Lee and ChangKao Deng.

After graduated from Eastman School of Music, Kent Cheng came to University of Minnesota and studied with Mr.Young-Nam Kim for the doctoral degree of Musical Art. Kent Cheng has been teaching and playing since graduated in 1999.
Yi-Ming Chen

Violist , violinist
Yi-Ming Chen is active in playing chamber music. She received her D.M.A. in Violin Performance from the University of Minnesota in 2007, where she studied with Young-Nam Kim and also earned her Master’s Degree in 2004.

She was invited to participate in the concerts of the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota and their Lowertown Noontime series concerts with many guest musicians. During her years at the University of Minnesota, Chen was a member of the symphony orchestra and the New Music Ensemble, with whom she toured to the University of Wisconsin- Madison and the University of Iowa. Her quartet was selected for master classes with Robert Mann and the Daedalus Quartet. They were also selected to perform at the Elliott Carter Festival in 2006. Currently she is teaching and freelancing in the Twin Cities. 
Arianna Wegley

Cellist
Arianna Wegley has played cello for ten years; she is currently a first-year student studying Cello Performance with Tanya Remenikova at the University of Minnesota School of Music. She is a member of the University Symphony, and is an active chamber musician. She has been recognized for awards in the Thursday Musical, The Schubert Club, and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra Youth Chamber Music Competition; has participated in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies as well as in music festivals across the country.

Aside from music, Wegley greatly values her faith, strives academically, and loves to spend time with her family, friends, and mentors. 

Hayley Nelson

Cellist
Hayley completed her Master of Music degree in cello performance at the University of Minnesota under the instruction of Tanya Remenikova.Before that she received her Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, where she studied with Paul Kosower and Teresa Richardson. 

She currently maintains a busy teaching schedule in the Twin Cities, teaching strings to all ages and abilities, ensembles, and music appreciation.

She regularly performs as a freelance musician, currently serving as principal cellist for the Lirica Chamber Ensemble, associate principalcellist for the Kenwood Symphony, and multi-instrumentalist fornumerous folk ensembles. 
Hsin-I Huang

Pianist
Hsin-I Huang is currently pursuing her D.M.A. in Collaborative Piano & Coaching at the University of Minnesota, where she is a Teaching Assistant to Timothy Lovelace.

At the University of Texas at Austin, Huang earned her M.M. in Collaborative Piano while studying with Anne Epperson, Chuck Dillard, and Colette Valentine.

In 2014, Huang was selected as a fellow in collaborative piano at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California. Previous appointments included a TA in Collaborative Piano at the Brevard Music Festival. A native of Taipei, Taiwan, Huang completed her B.M. in Piano Performance at Soochow University, where her primary professor was Daming Zhu.

Michael Chu

Violinist
Michael Chu, born in Woodbury Minnesota, began playing violin at the age of seven under the direction of Blayne Barnes at the St. Joseph’s School of Music. Chu was a member of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies (MYS) from 2010-2014 and the Artaria Chamber Music School from 2013-2014. He was awarded first place in the St. Paul Youth Chamber Music Competition and was a finalist in the St. Paul String Quartet Competition and the MYS Symphony Solo Competition.

Chu is currently a freshman at the University of Minnesota, studying under Sally O’Reilly.
Huei-Mei Jhou

Flutist
Hui-Mei Jhou is a native of Taiwan and completed her D.M.A in Flute Performance under Professor Immanuel Davis at the University of Minnesota. She teaches flute master classes in North Dakota and Minnesota, as well as the Minnesota All-State Band and International Music Camp. Her dissertation, entitled, Pedagogy of Influential Selected Works by Marcel Moyse: A Modern Perspective, focuses on flute pedagogy and thoughts behind Marcel Moyse’s works, and how students can apply modern practice performance tools to master Moyse’s studies and exercises. Jhou is also regularly invited to present advanced flute performance techniques, including use of the breathing bag during flute workshops for the Minnesota Music Education Association and the Minnesota Music Teacher Association. Jhou was also invited to present at the Marcel Moyse Society for an essay contest during the 42nd National Flute Association Convention in Chicago.

Jhou has participated in a variety of music ensembles, orchestras, and chamber ensembles. Currently, she is serving as a flute and music instructor at Princeton High School and at the Minnesota Renaissance School. 

Bianca Liang

Pianist
Bianca Liang grew up in Taiwan and started playing the piano at the age of six. Liang attained her Bachelor of Music (BM). in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota in 2009 and received her Master of Music (M.M.) degree in Piano Performance from the world-renowned Jacob School of Music at Indiana University – Bloomington in 2012.

Liang has been actively performing solo and chamber music as a pianist. As a piano accompanist, she frequently appears in concerts and events in collaboration with vocalists, choirs, and instrumentalists. She also dedicates herself to teaching the piano and is currently serving as a piano instructor at the Minnetonka Music Academy and at her own music studio.

Tiffany Cheng

Double Bass
Tiffany Cheng has been playing the violin since she was four years old. She is a former member of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies and is currently studying violin at the University of Minnesota under Professor Young-Nam Kim. 
Teng-Kuan Wang

Pianist
Teng-Kuan Wang, a collaborative pianist who was born in Taiwan, started studying the piano when he was six and started playing the violin when he was eleven. He joined music class while attending Chaiyi Junior High School, where he majored in piano and minored in violin. He organized a piano trio to compete in the Chiayi City music competition and won first place Then, he attended Chaiyi Senior High School for music. Wang had a full scholarship from the school for the three years he attended. In 2003, Wang entered the Department of Music at Soochow University; he majored in piano, and he also played euphonium in the wind orchestra of the music department.

In 2010, Wang retired from the military band and received a full scholarship to study Collaborative Piano in a master’s program with Lisa Leonard and Tao Lin; he kept teaching as well. Now, Wang is participating in the Doctoral of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) program in Collaborative Piano with Timothy Lovelace and plans to continue his teaching career.


Hsuan-Wen Lin

Violinist
Hsuan-Wen Lin is currently the director of the Conservatory of Music and a music/ orchestra teacher at the Yinghua Academy. She attained her doctoral degree at the University of Minnesota, majoring in Violin Performance. She is also a certified Suzuki teacher with the American Suzuki Association.

Lin has frequently been invited to perform in professional orchestras and local concerts. In 2008, she was invited to be the concertmaster of the Mississippi Valley Orchestra Christmas concert, The Nutcracker. In 2009 and 2011, she performed with the New Music Ensemble for the University of Minnesota tour in Wisconsin and Iowa. In 2012, she was invited to be the concertmaster of the National Music Festival. In the same year, her performances of Erwin Schulhoff's Duo, was featured in the World Journal. The Minnesota Daily also covered and published her solo recital of Gunther Schuller's Duologue. In 2014 and 2015, she has performed on different occasions, including Skrowaczewski's 90th birthday concert at the Minnesota Orchestra Hall and concerts with the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota.
