Collette received her B.S. in Recreation and Helping Services from St. Cloud State University, and received a certificate in Holistic Health Studies from the College of St. Catherine. She began studying Sumi-e painting in 1988 and has been teaching Sumi-e for the past nineteen years. She is a national award winning artist in the Sumi-e Society of America, and is a past president of the Ming Chiao Society. Her art is part of a permanent collection at the Edina Art Center where she is also a member. Collette is an artist, a teacher, an author and a visionary. Use black ink and water colors on rice paper to paint the Four Gentlemen: Bamboo, Orchid, Chrysanthemum and Plumb Blossom.
