Christina Huang

Christina Huang grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. She completed a degree in Education and minored in Visual Arts at the Taipei Municipal University of Education; she is currently pursuing her MFA at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She is a graphic designer and she uses a lot of hand-drawn illustrations in her work. She wants to use graphic design as a tool to educate, inform, and engage. She also spent four years training with the Taiwanese National Karate Team. During this time, she competed and trained in 13 different countries. This experience cultivated her interest in studying and working abroad. After winning the silver medal in the Asian Games in 2010, she decided to move to the United States to attend graduate school. Her experience as an athlete has shaped her diligent work ethic, and she brings this rigor to her design work.

Teng-Kuan Wang

Teng-kuan Wang, a collaborative pianist, born in Taiwan, started studying the piano when he was six and started playing the violin when he was eleven. He joined the music class of Chaiyi Junior High School where he majored in piano and minored in violin. He organized a piano trio compete the chiayi city music competition and won the first prize. From there, he went on to attend the music class of Chaiyi Senior High School. In the three years Kuan a full scholarship from the school for the three years he attended. His major was piano and his minor was violin, but he also joined the concert band and played tuba.

In 2003, Kuan entered the music department at Soochow University; his majored in piano, and he also played euphonium in the wind orchestra of the music department. Kuan’s professors included Wei-Long Lee, Sophia Yu, Alexander Sung, and John Vaughan. While at the university, he often played accompaniment for students’ recitals, performances, and competitions. In addition to this, he was also a teacher. He taught lots of students including little kids and adults, and some of them won competitions or were accepted to music school.

After graduating from university, Kuan joined the military and served in the Ministry of National Defense Symphony Orchestra in which he played piano, violin, and euphonium. In 2010, Kuan retired from the military band and received a full scholarship to study collaborative piano in a masters program with Lisa Leonard and Tao Lin; he still kept teaching as well. Now Kuan is now participating in the DMA program of Collaborative Piano with Timothy Lovelace and desires to continue his teaching career.
Joe Hsieh

Joe Hsieh was born in Taipei. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Tamkang University and his Master’s Degree in Business & Service Sciences from Yuan Ze University. In 2013, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota through the dual-degree program to study human resource development . He has attempted to learn all aspects of business and management and to experience the world by traveling. He expects to acquire more work experience and to fulfill his life goals in the future.

Harris Tsai

Cheng Han (Harris) Tsai was born in New Taipei City, Taiwan. He graduated from the mechanical design program at the National Formosa University. He has worked as a mechanical engineer for Foxconn International Holding where he was responsible for research and development (R&D) at the front end, building 3D models in the middle, and the design assembly process at the back end. After working for FIH for three years, Tsai moved to Wistron to work on rugged phones as a mechanical R&D engineer. Since working in an R&D environment, he was inspired to figure out what would be the next cutting-edge technology. He is now studying for his Master of Science in Management of Technology (MS MOT) at the University of Minnesota.

David Liu

David Liu is now a Master of Education student at the University of Minnesota. When he was a college student in Taiwan, his majors were English and literature, which triggered his interests in the study of Western history and culture. As a college student, he also liked to participate in various activities and found his passion for assisting people. As an international student, he aims to apply his background of Western and Eastern culture to substantially contribute to the community.

Judy Wu

Pei-Chen (Judy) Wu was born in Kaohsiung. She graduated from Feng-Chia University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She lived in San Francisco as a child where she attended elementary school for a year. Her experiences with Western culture made her curious about the life in the United States. In 2011, she majored in international business at the Yuan Ze University and received her Master of Business Administration Degree. In 2013, she enrolled at the University of Minnesota through the dual-degree program to study human resource development.
